In September 2018 Spotify launched in Beta a new facility for independent bands and artists to upload their own tracks to the streaming service. Now, less than a year later, they have announced that they will be pulling this feature.
On some levels it makes sense that Spotify revert back and music added to the streaming service continues to be done through distributors, as artists and bands were still utilising the services of distributors to get their tracks onto other music streaming services anyhow, alongside using the Spotify upload tool.
